“SMITA MALAYSIA TO WORK WITH ARGENTINE-BASED ONLINE PLATFORM WORKANA TO OPEN ASIA MARKET USING MALAYSIA AS A HUB

SMITA Malaysia (SME International Trade Association of Malaysia) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an Argentine-based online platform company, WORKANA to assist Malaysian companies to expand their businesses by working with freelancers to improve various aspects of their processes and systems and to subsequently expand SMITA-WORKANA services to other countries in the Asia region.
The signing ceremony was done at the Official Residence of the Argentine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, on 31 July 2019, in the presence of the Ambassador of Argentina to Malaysia, H.E. Manuel Balaguer Salas and Director General of Standards Malaysia, Datuk Fadilah Baharin.
For the signing of the MoU, SMITA Malaysia was represented by its President, Ms Megane S.C. Soo, while WORKANA was represented by its Head of International Growth, Mr Alejandro Kikuchi.


Through this MoU, the two organisations agreed to co-operate to promote the WORKANA platform to companies in Malaysia and subsequently to other countries in Asia region. The two parties also agreed to co-operate to assist Malaysian companies to be able to hire talents on freelance basis to support their business operations.
SMITA is a non-profit organisation with partners comprising trade associations and government agencies from various countries. SMITA is dedicated to assist Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to go global by organising meetings & trade missions, international trade conferences and educational seminars. Trainings are conducted by SMITA Academy and SMITA International Market Procurement Centre (SIMPC) provides the expertise and support services for global markets.


WORKANA as the regional leader in freelancer engagement in Latin America, entered the Southeast Asia market with Malaysia at its helm to provide businesses with an efficient solution for hiring and managing freelancers in the technology and creative industries. Workana aims to bridge the gap between freelancers and companies in the region which require such diverse workforce.
